Ben Lee

CEO and Co-founder of Neon Roots

Ben Lee is the co-founder and CEO of Neon Roots, a digital development agency with a mission to destroy the development model and rebuild it from the ground up. After a brief correspondence with Fidel Castro at age nine, Ben decided to start doing things his own way, going from busboy to club manager at a world-class nightclub before he turned 18. Since then, Ben has founded or taken a leading role in 5 businesses in everything from software development to food and entertainment.

Last night was the first annual Geekie Awards, a celebration of everything geek.  From comics to video games to board games, it was a party to honor and encourage the work of those dedicated to making awesome geek-loved work.  One of the highlights was the Lifetime Achievement Award going to comic book writer and creator, Stan Lee.  We even snapped a few close ups with the legend.

Neon Roots, in collaboration with Soulcake and Nedopak Productions, created a customized Augmented Reality game for the awards event.  With both 2D and 3D displays, players must save the Earth and the Geekie Awards by destroying a slew of flying robots. “Geekie Bots” is built on the iOS platform and works with or without a target marker so even though the awards are over, there are still robots to take down! Grab it from iTunes today: here!

We have a few of our favorite photos from the night to share as well as a look at who walked away with a Geekie Award:
