Ruby Developers are welcome to join the mobile party as the popular WURFL Device Description Repository (DDR) in the Cloud is now available for Ruby-based projects. WURFL, the Wireless Universal Resource FiLe, is a well known open-source framework that tackles the difficult task of mobile detection from the perspective of web developers. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that, “ScientiaMobile, Inc., a US company offering the popular Open-Source WURFL framework for mobile development commercially, has today announced the availability of a Ruby version of the Cloud Client for its WURFL Cloud Product.” ScientiaMobile boosts an impressive 12 years of experience in the device detection business.
This will be another tool in the arsenal for Ruby developers. Luca Mearelli, a Ruby developer, added, “Reliably detecting devices is a hard problem to solve and the best solution out there is WURFL. Until now there was not much that could unleash the power of the latest and best WURFL Mobile Device Detection. Today’s Ruby Cloud Client release by ScientiaMobile fills the gap and now with a minimal amount of code developers can start adding device detection to their Ruby applications. ”
According to ScientiaMobile, the Ruby Cloud Client is made available to all registered users in their Cloud Control Panel, including users of the free WURFL Cloud offering.
